On April 9th, 2024 we hosted an exclusive webinar to discuss relevant topics for TrendMiner admins related to the 2024.R1.0 and upcoming releases (recording below).

The following topics were covered:

What’s new in 2024.R1.0?
A quick overview of functional updates and newly available connectivity options. In 2024.R1.0, we added connectivity for Eschbach Shiftconnector, Wonderware 2020 and 2023 and Aspen APRM v14. A complete overview of supported connectivity options is available here.

Admin roles compared
TrendMiner 2024.R1.0 introduces a new admin layer to better separate Infrastructure, System and Application administration tasks. Refer to this topic for a complete overview.

About the upgrade

  • The 2024.R1.0 release introduces some major security improvements in ConfigHub and the way you can access ConfigHub. Refer to this documentation article to learn how to access ConfigHub after the upgrade by resetting the admin user password via Edge Manager. It is advised to only use the admin user for recovery purposes and to provide System Admin rights with ConfigHub access to individual user accounts
  • The upgrade from 2023.R4.0 to 2024.R1.0 contains an important database migration that requires additional free disk space compared to regular upgrades (25GB + 30x the size of a compressed database backup). For more information, refer to the upgrade prerequisites.

Best practices

  • Subscribe to important patch updates via the link in the release notes
  • Before upgrading, always check the prerequisites in the upgrade notes
  • Keep your TrendMiner installation up to date to stay current with the latest security patches and get fast support on issues. More information can be found here.

Upcoming Operating System migration (2024.R2.0)
In response to the end of support for RHEL7, we are transitioning to newer Operating System versions to continue offering a secure and well-maintained environment for TrendMiner. For the 2024.R2.0 upgrade of TrendMiner, it will be needed to set up a clean TrendMiner installation on the new OS and perform a migration of the TrendMiner data via a new built-in migration through cloud storage or the classic backup restore. Using the cloud storage migration is advised, as the classic backup restore does not migrate index data, specific settings and memory overrides.

Additionally, minimal system requirements will be increased from TrendMiner 2024.R2.0 onwards.

To prepare for the Operating System migration, refer to this documentation.
