Question

Golden batch dashboard

Of a fermentation batch I have successfully created a search and fingerprint (based on layers) of the productivity. I have a request to visualize this fingerprint on the current running batch in a dashboard (to be shared, and should require no intervention).

How can TrendMiner know when to “reset” the view timeline whenever a new batch is started. I do have another tag of the program sequence (recording when a step is changed and therefore when a batch starts and ends, is recorded as an analog signal) which could be used, but I don’t know if and how that could work.

Can this work, * without * any manual work dragging the fingerprint over the running batch?

Hello @garchr01 ,

Thank you for your question, and apologies for the delayed response.

Regarding visualizing a fingerprint on the currently running batch in a shared dashboard (without user interaction):
This is a very valid and interesting use case. I would recommend sharing this as a Product Idea in the TrendMiner Ideas portal so it can be evaluated for future roadmap consideration:

Regarding the automatic “reset” of the timeline when a new batch starts:
TrendMiner does not automatically know when a new batch starts unless this is explicitly defined.

Since you already have a program sequence / step tag that changes when a batch starts and ends, this can be used to solve the problem.

A recommended approach would be:

  • Create a search that detects the batch start based on this program sequence tag.

  • Use this search in the fingerprint monitor and configure it as a start condition.

  • This way, each time the batch start condition is met, TrendMiner can automatically trigger the monitoring logic and align the timeline accordingly.

You can find more information in the TrendMiner User Guide under Fingerprint monitors.

Merry Christmas and best regards,

Natasha

Thank you Natasha, I have created a new product idea as you sugeested. For the reset of the timeline, I don’t understand the last part of your comment: “and align the timeline accordingly”. Which timeline do you refer to? I was referring to the timeline of a view in TrendHub?

Hello @garchr01,

With “align the timeline accordingly”, I was referring to the internal timeline of a Fingerprint Monitor, not the TrendHub view timeline. When a fingerprint monitor is configured with a start condition (e.g. your program sequence / batch start tag), TrendMiner can automatically detect the batch start and align the fingerprint evaluation relative to that point in time. However, the TrendHub/dashboard timeline itself is always absolute time-based and cannot automatically reset or re-align to the start of each new batch.

Hope this clarifies it!

Best regards,

Natasha
