Hello 🙂

I’m sure most of you have used popular AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and others. Based on personal experience using these chatbots, I’ve discovered a few key aspects to keep in mind when prompting them to generate a summary or refine an article.

🔎 Here are three important ones:

  1. Be precise when crafting your prompt. The clearer your request, the better the output. ☝️
  2. Define your audience. Specify who the article, email, or content is intended for. 🕵🏼
  3. Set the desired complexity level. Indicate whether you want a simple explanation or a more sophisticated, in-depth response.

My own experience 👇🏼

Recently, while installing cabinetry, I turned to ChatGPT for advice since I'm far from a woodworking expert. After I described my project, it recommended the right screws for the job and even provided a clear step-by-step guide.

We’d love to hear about the unique ways you’ve used different chatbots! Share in the comments below!

Apart from getting high-level information on topcis I’m working on, I’ve found LLMs very useful to help me create Javascripts for this Community. I’m not a developer and although I have some basic coding skills, I had never worked with Javascript before. Nevertheless, by providing the right information to ChatGPT, I was able to add some small scripts to the Community that make it more fun (or so I think) and easier to use.

Apart from the very apparent one, adding snow to the Community during the holidays, scripts can also be used to tailor the pages on the Community and better guide users to content of interest based on their experience or roles, for example. Excited to explore this further over the next months…

Curious to hear if anyone has had similar wins in their work (whether related to TrendMiner or not)...

My experience with AI tools has been for scripting, writing, and designing things for my side hobby. For scripting, AI tools are very helpful for troubleshooting/debugging Python code (since I'm not a coder), optimizing my code, or understanding code written by others. For the last one, it's very helpful in explaining what the code is doing. Reflecting back at some of the code I've written in the past, it all made sense when I was writing it, but when I look at it again after a couple of years, its feels like I'm reading ancient hieroglyphs.

Writing is another area where it's very help. Often I find that everyone has a certain type of writing style, some times its needs to be changed depending on the audience and occasion. AI tools helps in setting the right tone for the intended audience and tips to include certain useful things for the occasion.

Lastly, and the most fun one for me, is the generation of design ideas for woodworking. I like working with my hands but I'm not the most creative mind for thinking revolutionary designs. As amazing as some of the imagery and designs can be, I used it as an inspiration and scale down the complexity.
