Identify the right key users  

Each new tool requires specific key user profiles outlining which people are most likely to quickly adopt the new way of working. Select the right people who fit the pre-defined profile, so they can enable and support other users to more quickly adopt - and get value from - the new way of working. 

The key users play a central role 

We will work with the key users intensively during the hands-on sessions to get them to know the basics of the software and create first value. Furthermore, we will stay in close contact with these users to expand their TrendMiner knowledge and skills, and to measure the progress of the project. To maximize the chances of successful onboarding, key users should adhere to and be selected based on the following profile.  

 

The ideal key user…  

… commits to accompany the pilot from start to finish and beyond  

… has the time to work with TrendMiner and participate in the sessions  

… has a job role with the following characteristics    

  • Involvement in problem solving or improvement projects  

  • Regularly work with data (e.g., timeseries data, quality data) 

  • Solid process knowledge  

  • Affinity for technology and software 

  • Analytic awareness 

  • Understanding of the company challenges  

  • Example jobs: Process engineers, production engineer, production manager, operator, data scientist 

… brings in a personality that includes 

  • Willingness to improve 

  • Willingness to share

  • Communication skills  

 

Questions that help you to identify the right key users:  

  • Expertise: What expertise would be helpful for this project? Who has the right process knowledge? Who knows how to work with time series data? 

  • Experience: Who has experience with implementing a similar project?  

  • Enthusiasm: Who already cares about this project and wants to be a part of it? 

  • Organizational Knowledge: Who knows how things work in the organization? Who understands the company’s challenges? 

  • Influence: Who influences others in the organization? Who is a good teacher, communicator, and networker?  

 

Commitment is key 

Once you have selected the right key users, make sure to convey clear expectations throughout the TrendMiner explore program during the kick-off session. To ensure that key users can commit to the success of the explore program it is vital that they can dedicate the required time to attending sessions, discovering the platform, and working on use cases.
